Monday Made It: IKEA Frames

I've surprised myself and have another Made It for this Monday so it's time to link up with Tara over at 4th Grade Frolics for...

This week's Made It stems from one I made a few weeks ago. That was then...

Gold spray painted IKEA mini-frame for our
GOLDEN NUGGETS of KNOWLEDGE anchor charts
and table signs

This is now... IKEA frames + spray paint in my new classroom colors =

Please note the broken chair in the background.
That is hopefully another Made It in the making, perhaps for next week
!

... these colorful frames which will be used to display my anchor charts once I've miniaturized them... what a space saver... and CUTE, too! Here's the finished product being inspected by one of my fur babies, Lulie.

Now all they need are the anchor charts. Those will be coming shortly, once school begins. Until then feel free to browse my anchor chart pin board; it's growing day-by-day.

  2. Your frames are adorable! I'm thinking I really need some of those to go with my scalloped ones from Michaels...If I painted them it would solve the color issue I'm having with the choices. CUTE!

    1. In a way, I wish I had discovered the Michael's frames first. I think the scalloping is so cute! It's really simple to paint the frames, too! I've used satin finish, gloss finish, and matte finish, namebrand and generic... it all worked. It just takes time to let it dry thoroughly!

      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I am soooo envious! I really like IKEA products and wish that a store was closer. The nearest is nearly a three hour drive away. I am NOT that much of a shopper to make that kind of trek. Happy shopping soon!

  5. I saw them last week when you posted them and I loved them. I couldn't find them at our local Michaels. Ikea is far from us, but it may be worth the road trip. Love the PQA, as well. Thanks again.

    1. Thanks, Damarise!

No road trip for this girl! Our nearest IKEA is hours away and I didn't know about Michael's until I bought my frames. I tried ordering them from IKEA online but they are not available that way. Mine came from eBay! eBay always has them, in colors also, but you have to watch because some sellers charge HIGH prices for them. IKEA sells them for about a dollar a piece. I actually bought a lot of 30 white ones for 25 dollars with free shipping so I made out like a bandit!!!!

    1. I keep hoping IKEA will place a store within an hour or two of me... we have a large urban/suburban market (as in Cleveland/Toledo) to draw them, but so far nothing! I went to the IKEA near Pittsburgh years ago and fell in love with their products. I do order some items online but it's not the same as being able to look through the store, touching and seeing them in person. Ah, someday!

    1. Thanks, Martha! Lucky, lucky you! I so want to shop in person at IKEA without driving an entire morning to get there! I'm glad that you stopped by. Have a nice week!

    1. Thanks, Mary! It was time for a change. All I really did was switch out the black/white for brown. The teal and green I already had so it's not too much of a change.

      Have a nice week,

    1. Thanks, Alison! I love changing colors now and then, especially since I have kids for more than one year. It keeps it fresh for all of us!

  10. So cute. I just added blue and lime stuff to my store. I love that you have the golden frames. Adorable! How did you link your exact Pinterest board?

    1. Thanks for your kind words.

To link a board in a blog post, go to your Pinterest page, click on the board you'd like to feature, and notice a "ribbon" along the top. You will see EDIT BOARD, SEND BOARD, and <>. Click on the <>. A pop-up window appears with some code. Copy the code, then return to your blog post and in COMPOSE mode, paste the code where you want the board to appear. That should do it.

      Thanks for stopping by!
