New Year's Blog Resolutions and a FREEBIE

I've been doing some thinking about my blog and what I should do with it. Yesterday I blogged about the Top Six Blog Posts of 2013, and I noticed that the top posts all had one thing in common... a freebie! That got me thinking that I should probably include more freebies with my blogging. After all that was how I started in the cyberworld all those aeons ago with The Teacher's Desk (a warehouse of several hundred FREE lesson ideas for teachers in grs. 5/6). So at the end of this blog post is a spelling freebie to help me keep my FIRST blogging resolution.

I say first resolution because I was blog reading today and saw that my friend Diane from Fifth in the Middle is hosting a New Year's Blog Resolution linky party. I decided to join in since this will may help me reach some blogging goals that I have for the coming year.

1. More photos... I have good intentions toward this goal and ALWAYS have my camera in my teaching bag which is ALWAYS with me at school. However, do I remember to grab it and use it? NO!!!!!! This year I will try to improve.

2. 300 Followers... I am itching to reach this goal on Bloglovin' so that I can host a fun giveaway. My one year blogiversary is approaching, too. It would be SUPER fun to be able to combine the two. So..... if you aren't a follower yet, please consider joining via Bloglovin' over there in the right margin. TIA!

3. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE linky parties. I have found some really great blogs and met soooooo many terrific bloggers via linky parties. I would really like to host a linky party that someone joins. I tried one at Halloween but sniff, sniff! no one came to the party. Maybe 2014 will be party central for The Teacher's Desk 6. Just because I do LOVE linkies so much I am also joining a fun little linky hosted by Jennifer from Simply Kinder. This is a linky for bloggers to find new blogs to follow and meet new bloggers.... great fun!

4. Comments... I love receiving comments and anxiously check each post to see if there are any. Most of the time I check via my Kindle which is not conducive to email/online responses, at least for me it's not. I just don't text well. Then I just don't seem to get back to make the actual reply. THIS I WILL IMPROVE!

So, there you have it! Those are my blogging resolutions. And here's that spelling freebie I promised. This is something that I use with my fifth/sixth Language Arts students all the time. It's a go-to assignment when I have nothing else planned or we have extra time to fill. You can download it HERE or by clicking on the pic.
Happy New Year,
Happy Teaching,
Angela

  1. I love getting comments too!! I usually get them over night, and wake up to the emails. It's always a sadder morning when there are only spam emails rather than comment ones :p
All the best for reaching your 300 target!! I just made 100 a couple weeks ago and it made my year! haha - I'm a geek!

  3. It's interesting that SO many of us resolved to be better at leaving comments this year because, as you mentioned, we all LOVE getting them! Doesn't it feel great to think people are actually reading your posts, not just looking at the photos? haha

  4. It took me a really long time and a lot of followers before I had what I would call a successful linky. Maybe when you decide you want to do another one, contact a few bloggers that might want to link up and give them a heads up on your plans so they can help out :)
