June Goals

I'm linking up with Jess over at I{heart}Recess for her monthly goals blog post. I joined her last month for the first time... I've got to say that I am soooo happy that I did! After creating goals for May, I really did return to them several times during the month to monitor my progress: I did practice my piano more, I did eat more healthy foods (I even weaned myself off of pop), and I did plan my blog posts ahead of time... yea me! However, I did NOT plan better for school... I have been, gulp, lazy!

BUT, I did have my fivers do a similar activity. We were supposed to evaluate our success on Friday, May 31st, but I was called away to play guitar and sing at a special mass and missed their class... see, if I had planned better at school we could've done it the day before. I didn't want the sub to tackle this activity as it is something special for us! It will be a few days into June before we get to the May goals but it'll work.

Now for my June goals...

PERSONAL: I tend to feel guilty if I am not being productive, doing something. I have not taken the time to just sit and enjoy. I can remember one of my MOST favorite summer things to do used to be just sitting on the glider on my porch and listening to the neighborhood sounds. Gonna recapture this this summer! It's good for the soul.

FAMILY: I've got lots of fun things planned... cookouts, roadtrips, and TONS of FUN!

HEALTH: I must start walking a little. The arthritis in my knees has gotten worse this past year. As a result, I've gotten less active... BAD! I'm going to force myself to walk a little bit each day, even if it's just around the block.

SCHOOL: I'm going to TRY not to think about this for a couple of weeks... yeah, right!

BLOG/TpT: I've got about a dozen or more products in process for TpT/TN... gotta finish them!

READ: LOTS, and LOTS, and LOTS and all for entertainment!

Happy Teaching,
Happy June... yes, summer break,
Angela

  1. Love that the linky has helped you! How did you wean off of pop!?! That is what I am working on this month. Looking forward to hearing about your students' goals :)

    1. I noticed you're a Dew girl... that stuff is ADDICTING, capital letters, with all the added caffeine. I'm just a Coke-aholic, high-test, not diet. I wanted off the caffeine so all I did was replace the pop with (weak, extra water, less sugar) Kool-aid... still too much sugar, but it's a baby step. The hardest part was the caffeine headaches for days. Those are gone, but now I've got to get off the sugar... water next. Sending you good thoughts and wishes for your "getting off the pop".

Thanks for hosting this linky... it's fun and GOOD for us... imagine that!

  2. Enjoy lots of reading for entertainment. I have a few classes this summer and sadly, I won't get to do a lot of that this year. That's the one thing I am going to miss the most. I see your countdown to my right! Cute...and I'm right there with ya!

    1. Good luck with your classes, Brandee! This is an off summer for me. I just renewed my license so I won't need to earn any credits for renewal for a bit. Normally I'd be there with you! Have a great end of the school!!!!

  4. I can totally relate to the guilty feeling! I'm trying to slow down and enjoy the ride! Summer is the perfect time to make that a new habit, right?

    1. Hi,
Thanks for stopping by! I tried to reply, but it wouldn't let me so I came back to your site- check out my post about the "no reply" setting on blogger:http://creatingathoughtfulclassroom.blogspot.com/2013/05/calling-all-no-reply-bloggers.html
I had to change my settings, so people could reply directly back to me about the comments I left on their blogs. That nice comment you added above, I don't actually see unless I come back to your blog and check! Tricky, right?
Anyway, I wanted to thank you for your kind words and spelling suggestions! Glad we "met" through the linky!
      Take care,
      Karli

    2. Thanks, Karli! I thought I had "fixed" this already. Apparently not. I followed the directions via your post and hope that replying will now work... fingers crossed.
