I LOVE to read aloud to my kiddos! One of my all-time favorite read aloud authors is Patricia Polacco. Here is her brand new, just released yesterday book!
It's a little like Thank You, Mr. Falkner, but I won't tell you more. It is SOOOOOOO good! You'll have to read it for yourself.
To help you out I'll send you your very own copy. Just leave a little message below about the "stuff" you like to read to your students. I'll select ONE name Thursday, Aug. 14th after 6:00pm EST from the comments at random to receive Patricia Polacco's BRAND NEW book Mr. Wayne's Masterpiece. Please make sure that I can contact you via email to get your mailing address, so "no-reply bloggers" make sure to include your email in your comment.
Be sure to visit Miss DeCarbo's blog for more fun Wordless Wednesday posts by other teacher bloggers.

My favorite read alouds are books that make the kids beg for more!!! I love reading books with that allow for different voices or books that show emotions and feeling. My favorites are Edward Tulaine, Stone Fox, Wonder, Witches…just to name a few.
ReplyDeleteI love reading a few the first few days. I read Mr. Peabody's apples, so the kids don't tattle. I read Wanda's First day about a kid witch who accidentally goes to fairy school. It's about understanding and fitting in. I also read A Very Full Morning. It's about a nervous Rabbit going to school on the first day. She's scared no one will like her. (Guess who she is?!) I love reading books that aren't the most popular but are just treasures!!!

I LOVE Patricia Polacco. She and Eve Bunting have the best mentor texts to use with my fourth graders. Thank you so much for the opportunity. :)
ReplyDeleteI am sure it is an absolutely wonderful book, however I would not want you to have to post it all the way to England if I won so I won't enter your competition but I would recommend "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" by Mo Willems as an all time favourite for little ones and "The Sea of Tranquility" by Mark Haddon for young and old :-) Special Teaching at Pempi's Palace
ReplyDeleteI love Patricia Polacco books! I had no idea she wrote a brand new one :) I bet this would be a great mentor text for my 7th graders! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!!
ReplyDeleteI love to read books with good illustrations to my class. I'm an art teacher so we talk a lot about looking at the pictures or sometimes creating a project that the characters have made in the book!
ReplyDeletePatricia Polacco and Eve Bunting definitely come to mind right away for mentor texts. I love Peg Kehret's mysteries and Gorgon Korman mini series, as well as the other hundreds of books that are in my library! Thank you for letting us know about the new book!

Fit to be Fourth
I love to read picture books to my middle schoolers! At the beginning of the year I read them things like "The Patchwork Quilt" and "How Full is your Bucket". This year, I'm adding "Extra Yarn". :) Thanks for such a kind giveaway!
