It is supposed to look like artist Dale Chihuly's glass chandelier sculptures. Ours are made of permanent marker colored water bottles that we cut in spirals and glue to a paper towel roll. I saw the idea on Pinterest several years ago. It's a super simple project, but it does take some time to do!

I would LOVE to see and hear more about the record album bowls that you speak of. I'm trying to imagine them. Generally I'll teach my sixers about a particular artist and a well-known art piece, and the art teacher (a fantastic artist herself) teaches them the technique used by the artist. They then pattern their own piece after the artist's. Each project takes three to four weeks.

AngelaThe Teacher's Desk 6https://www.blogger.com/profile/05040785972634369374noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180264515207014189.post-11225818819710032402014-04-11T19:51:08.517-04:002014-04-11T19:51:08.517-04:00You are absolutely on target, Julie! Dale Chihuly ...You are absolutely on target, Julie! Dale Chihuly it is! I have my sixers study various artists and pattern a project after their particular style. I saw this idea on Pinterest several years ago and LOVED it. It is super simple, but does take some time: color approx. 15-20 clear plastic water bottles (remove as much of the label as possible but keep the cap) with Sharpie style (permanent) markers; cut off the bottom with sharp scissors and spiral cut around the bottle to the top forming a hanging spiral, hot glue the caps to an empty paper towel roll arranging them around the roll, punch two holes in the top end of the roll and run a length of twine/string through. Voila! Hang it up and enjoy.

AngelaThe Teacher's Desk 6https://www.blogger.com/profile/05040785972634369374noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180264515207014189.post-89505336919902454352014-04-09T22:59:05.799-04:002014-04-09T22:59:05.799-04:00Angela,

How do you make it?

Some of the great art projects we have done this year include designing bowls out of old record albums (we melted them after we colored them with colored pencils).
